This was a project I started back in June, and was for the Le Cafe Pixel exhibition at Hero Festival in Marseille, called Star Wars: An Art Odyssey. I was invited as part of the Poster Posse to take part. My initial process was that I wanted to work on themes relating to the older 3 Star Wars films, and draw Star Wars vehicles, as the design has such a unique feel at the time, with angles like an 80's ford escort!!, which I love. In particular the Sandcrawler, and as R2-D2 is probably my favourite charachter (He always saves the day!!) I thought a R2-View on proceedings would be a great angle to work from, as he is often at crucial locations within the films too. I changed angles and colours a lot during the making of this as I wanted the piece to end up with a more muted vibrancy than I started with. Being part of this was a dream come true, but also very stressful!! To produce artwork, for probably my favourite film franchise of all time and that would be approved, was something that was incredibly exciting but daunting. I think this was the largest amount of prep work Ive done before ever putting a pencil to paper.
